Grimm, Melva L.

Melva Louise Lewis Grimm, 63, of 411 1st St. S., a lifelong resident of Newton, died Friday evening, Aug. 16, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines of heart failure.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

The Rev. Mike Johnson, pastor of the Kellogg Christian Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Veterans Section of Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 8 a.m. Tuesday. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Funeral.

Memorials to the National Kidney Foundation of Iowa Inc., American Heart Association or the Kellogg Christian Church will be accepted.

Survivors are her husband, Alfred; four sons, Robert of Irvine, Calif., Charles of Garland, Texas, Alfred Jr. of Newton and Earl of Norfolk, Va.; a daughter, Linda (Mrs. Michael) Ratcliff of Newton; and nine grandchildren.

Also surviving are four sisters, Nondas (Mrs. George) Sports of Melbourne, Rosemary (Mrs. Dean) Olson of Kellogg and Wanda (Mrs. John) McMasters and Deloris (Mrs. Hubert) Clark, both of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Grimm, a member of the Veterans of Foreign wars Auxiliary and past president of the Cooties Pup tent 33, had worked at Dunlap Manufacturing Co. While in school and was a former employee of the Newton Holiday Inn and Newton country Club.

The daughter of Robert and Novline Wickliff Lewis, she was born March 21, 1928 in Newton and was a 1947 graduate of Newton Community High School.

She was married to Alfred L. Grimm Sr. March 22, 1947 in Atchison, Kan. ~ Newspaper unknown, possibly The Des Moines Register or the Newton (IA) Daily News, Mon 19 Aug 1991
