Charles Ray Hadsall

Colfax, Iowa – Charles Ray Hadsall, 62, a lifelong resident of the Colfax area, died Sunday, March 2, at the Hospice Kavanaugh House in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax with the rev. Thomas Carpe, pastor of the church, assisted by the rev. Robert Jones, retired pastor from Omaha, Neb., who once served at the Howard Street Christian Church, officiating. Cremation will follow the service.

Masonic services will be Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Friends may call at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax after noon Tuesday.

Memorials to the Colfax Fire Department Building Fund will be accepted.

Mr. Hadsall was born Feb. 26, 1935, near Prairie City, the son of Dale and Elsie Miller Hadsall.

He graduated from Colfax High School in 1953.

He married Alys Eike Feb. 11, 1986, in Colfax. Following her death Dec. 31, 1991, he married Lois Miller Retman Sept. 26, 1993 in Colfax.

Mr. Hadsall retired from the Enron Pileline Company in 1991. He also farmed and had worked at the Prairie City Co-op. He was a member of the Preston Masonic Lodge in Prairie City.

Survivors include his wife; three sons and daughter-in-law, Gene and Kathie of Prairie City, Craig and Renee of Newton and Corey and Cathi of Altoona; two daughters and sons-in-law, Terri and Mike Gilbert of Prairie City, and Crystal and Carey Wing of Colfax; and 11 grandchildren.

He was also survived by a sister, Helen Tiffany of Colfax; eight step-children; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and a foster grandfather, Arthur Van De Pol of Monroe.

Besides Alys Eike, he was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Francis; and a foster grandmother, Geraldine Van De Pol. ~ Newspaper unnamed but possibly The Des Moines Register, Des Moines, Iowa or The Newton (IA) Daily News.
