Lillian Bruton Dies Today; Rites Saturday

Mrs. Fred (Lillian N.) Bruton, 82, of 618 S. 2nd Ave. W., a resident of Newton since 1964, died this morning at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home.

The Rev. Ray Barnett, pastor of the First Christian Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home after 11 a.m. Friday.

Survivors are two sisters, Miss Irene Nelson of Newton and Mrs. Howard (Ione) Trotter of Des Moines; and nine nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers, George and Harry Nelson.

Mrs. Bruton, a member of the First Christian Church, had been a school teacher in Tulsa, Okla., for a number of years.

The daughter of John and Clara Nelson, she was born Mar. 29 1895 in Newton and was graduated from the University of Iowa at Iowa City.

She was married to Fred Bruton Jan. 4, 1930 at Columbia, Mo. ~ The Newton (Iowa) Daily News, Thursday, January 5, 1978.
