MONROE – Henry Biehl was born Nov. 1, 1859 in Germany and died at his home in Monroe, April 11, at the age of 77 years, 5 months and 10 days.
At the age of ten years he came with his mother to Iowa, where he grew to manhood, and knew the struggles of pioneer life.
When a young man he joined the Lutheran church, which he attended faithfully.
On April 5, 1883 he was united in marriage to Margaret Birkenholtz. After their marriage they went to housekeeping on a farm near Fairmount. Later they moved to their farm 2 ½ miles north of Monroe, where they lived for many years. Ten years ago they moved to the present home in Monroe.
To this union three children were born, one son, William Biehl and two daughters, Mrs. Rosy Nolin and Mrs. Laura Nolin. The latter preceded him in death April 14, 1928.
Beside his wife and two children he also leaves five grandchildren, Dale, Rex, and Mildred Nolin and Earnest and Irene Biehl.
Although not in the best of health for the past three years, it was only during the past ten days that his condition became serious.
Funeral services were in charge of Rev. R. R. Moser, Tuesday afternoon, April 13, at the home. “In The Garden” and “The Old Rugged Cross” were sung by Misses Almeda and Gerdena Green.
Pallbearers were William Whitted, Frank Efnor, Edgar Mateer, Robert Birkenholtz, Lawrence Birkenholtz and Ira Nolin.
