Russell W. Lewis, 71, of Colfax died Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
A memorial gathering will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, at Coburn Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Burial will take place at McKeever Cemetery at a later date. Condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News.

Russell W. Lewis, age 71 of Colfax, died Monday, January 20, 2014, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, January 24, 2014, from 12:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Coburn Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Burial will take place at McKeever Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Russell W. Lewis Memorial Fund and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.
The son of George and Gladys (Cordray) Lewis, Russell was born on October 15, 1942, in Colfax. Russell served in the United States Navy. On March 22, 1961, he was united in marriage to Karen L. Renfro in Colfax. Russell worked at Firestone for 30 years retiring in 2001 and was a member of the United Steel Workers Local 310. He enjoyed hunting in his earlier years and spending time and watching his grandchildren in all of their events. Russell was also known of as a full time Handy Man for all of his family.
Those left to honor his memory include his children, Jeff (Leona) Lewis of Baxter, Jamie (Michelle) Lewis of Colfax and Justin Lewis of Newton; nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren; and six sisters, Mildred Kimberly of Baxter, Evelyn Kimberly of Ohio, Helen Holdefer of Colfax, Trula Fleener of Colfax, Bertine Sleigh of Prairie City, and Linda Wilson of Arizona. Preceding him in death were her parents, his best friend and wife of 47 years, Karen in 2008 a brother, James and three sisters, Georgina, Betty and Virginia. ~ The Coburn Funeral Home, Colfax, Iowa.
