Weston Albert Geissler
(February 5, 1931 - October 30, 2013)

Weston Albert Geissler, 82, of Chippewa Falls, passed away from ALS, with his family at his side on Wednesday, October 30, 2013.

He was born on February 5, 1931, the son of Albert and Elizabeth (Plante) Geissler in Chippewa Falls.

Wes lived in Chippewa Falls for his entire life. He attended Catholic schools, graduating from McDonell Central High in 1949.

He was united in marriage to Mona Rubenzer on October 25, 1958 at Notre Dame Catholic Church. After marriage, Wes and Mona lived on W. Cedar St. in Chippewa Falls. He was a member of St. Peter’s Church.

Wes worked in sales for over 60 years for companies including Scholl Distributing, Equitable Insurance, Illinois Mutual, and Newton Manufacturing. Wes was a dedicated volunteer throughout his life. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Goldsmith Council #974 for over 50 years. He also served as the Athletic Director and on the Home and School association at St. Charles Catholic School, and was on the Chippewa Falls Police and Fire Commission. In addition, Wes served the City of Chippewa Falls as an alderman for 6 years.

Wes often made the local newspaper, expressing his opinions through letters to the editor. He enjoyed talking about politics and was an avid sports fan. His favorite teams were the Green Bay Packers, the St. Louis Cardinals, the McDonell Macks and any team for whom his children and grandchildren were playing. He played softball with his buddies for many years.

Wes kept a meticulous yard with thick green grass, a large vegetable garden, and neatly planted flowers. He also enjoyed golfing, wood working and playing cribbage.

Wes is survived by his loving wife, Mona of 55 years; daughter, Carla (Darrin Eilers) Clare of Anamosa, Iowa, one son, Dave (Leslie) of Chaska, Minn., daughter, Lori (Bryan) Bauer of Durand, Wis.; 7 grandchildren, Jenna (Brandon) Davis of North Liberty, Iowa, Brittany Geissler of Minneapolis, Minn., Michael Geissler of Minneapolis, Minn., Jacob Bauer of Eau Claire, Gavin Eilers of Anamosa, Iowa, Ely Bauer of Durand, Simon Bauer of Durand,; two brothers, Jack (Pat Gunderson) Geissler of Chippewa Falls and Ken (Carol) Geissler of Hebo, Oregon; and a sister, Kathy (Nancy Hoover) Geissler of Eau Claire; sister-in-law, Marge Geissler of Chippewa Falls; 4 great grandchildren; 2 aunts, Gloria Munster of Oregon and Florence Geissler of Chippewa Falls; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Rene Geissler and Tom Geissler; 3 sisters-in-law, Judy Geissler, Shirley Geissler and Laura Geissler; great nephew, Nicholas Geissler; one granddaughter, Jamie Erin Clare in infancy; his grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, November 4 at St. Peter’s Church in Tilden. The Very Rev. Ed Shuttleworth will be celebrant of the funeral Mass. Interment will be in Hope Cemetery in Chippewa Falls.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, November 3 and until 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Horan Funeral Home in Chippewa Falls. The Knights of Columbus Goldsmith Council #974 will recite the rosary at 4 p.m. and there will be a Christian Vigil Service at 7 p.m. both on Sunday at the funeral home.
