Joyce A. (Hausner) Nicholson, 81, of Newton died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at her home in Park Centre in Newton.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13 at the First Presbyterian Church, 220 N. Second Ave. E. in Newton. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12 at Wallace Family Funeral Home. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News.

Those left to honor Joyce's memory are her husband of 62 years, Jack of Newton; two daughters, Janell (John) McClellan of Woodbury, Minnesota, and Janet Groen of Omaha, Nebraska; her three grandchildren, Katherine “Kaytie” Groen of Omaha, Nebraska, Jenna (David) Estlick of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Jeremy (Jenny) Groen of Omaha, Nebraska; and great-grandson, Dominic Estlick.

Joyce graduated from Colfax High School in 1950, she had also attended Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. She was a homemaker, and she had worked as a Realtor in Newton in the 1980’s.

Joyce was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church; she was also a member of PEO Chapter AO for 60+ years, MNO Club for 60 years, she was a board member of the Jasper County Concert Association, and had been a Hospice volunteer.

Joyce loved her family and friends. She enjoyed baking, cooking, quilting, and gardening.

Memorials to First Presbyterian Church or to WesleyLife Hospice Care may be left at the funeral home or at the church on the morning of the service. Memorials may also be mailed to the funeral home, please add, Attn: Nicholson Family on the envelope.
