Joseph Roberts Retired Maytager, Dies in Skiff.

Joseph Roberts, retired Maytag Company employee who lived at 609 South third avenue East, died today at skiff Memorial hospital. He was 72 years old.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Johnston-Murdoch funeral home, conducted by the Rev. John R. Binkley of the Christian Church. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery.

He was born in Mount Serat, Mo. May 19, 1882, and lived in that region for most of his life before coming to Newton in 1927.

He married Laura Kelso at Rich Hill, Mo., April 8, 1900.

He is survived by his wife; four sons, Marvin and Glenn of Newton, Charles of San Bernardino Calif., and Jack of Plymouth, Michigan; five daughters, Mrs. Irene Thompson, San Bernardino, Calif., Mrs. Leona Humes and Mrs. Ada Dean of Newton, Mrs. Lillian Clement, Maxwell, and Mrs. Edith Tiedemann, Ukiah, Calif.

Mr. Roberts also is survived by a sister, Mrs. John Detty, Denver, 28 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
