Helen Mae Bixby

Des Moines - Helen Mae Bixby, 85, of Des Moines, formerly of Prairie City, died Friday, July 7, 2006, at Fountain West Health Center in West Des Moines. Graveside services will be held on Monday, July 10, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. at Waveland Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be given to the Helen Mae Bixby Memorial Fund and online condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The daughter of Glen J. and Pearl (Gritton) Berkemann, Helen was born on February 9, 1921 in Des Moines, Iowa. She graduated from North High School in Des Moines and worked for several years at Ruan in Des Moines as a secretary. On March 14, 1942, she was united in marriage to Hubert E. Bixby in Des Moines. To this union two children were born.

Those left to honor her memory are her children, David Bixby and his wife Linda of Des Moines and Joyce Lowe and her husband Randy also of Des Moines. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Amanda Lowe and David Lowe. Preceding her in death was her parents and husband in 1997. ~ The Des Moines Sunday Register, July 8, 2006, page GC.
