Samuel E "Sam" Warren, 79, of 604 W 14th St. N., a former longtime resident of Colfax, died of congestive heart failure Sunday morning, March 6, at his home. Cremation was held.

Graveside rites will be held at 1p.m. Tuesday at the Newton Union Cemetery. Elder Glen Oswalt, pastor of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, will conduct services. Wallace-Pence Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors are his wife June; a son Thomas of Des Moines; three daughters, Jackie Welch, Judy Quinn, and Jane Dennis, all of Des Moines; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eph Vasey of Bakerville, Calif.

He was preceded in death b y his parents and a sister.

Mr. Warren, a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Engineers, had been a engineer for the Rock Island Railroad.

The son of Tom and Mamie Schoonover Warren, he was born Feb. 27, 1909 in Adelphi.

He was married to June Ruggless Dec. 30, 1965 in Rock Island Ill.
