Jess Winegar, 77, Dies; Funeral Services Sunday
PRAIRIE CITY – Funeral services for Jess Winegar, 77, a longtime resident of the Prairie City community, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Walters Funeral Home in Prairie City.
The Rev. Walter Goughnour, minister of the Prairie City Christian Church, and the Rev. Ben Buckingham of Prairie City, retired Church of the Brethren minister, will conduct the services.
Burial will be in Waveland Cemetery at Prairie City.
Survivors are his wife, Geraldine, a daughter, Margaret, at home, three brothers, Will and Roy, both of Prairie City, and Charles of Mitchellville, and three sisters, Miss Maude Winegar of Prairie City, Mrs. Thomas Briles of Prairie City and Mrs. Carl Kletting of Colfax.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Mr. Winegar, who lived on the same farm in the Prairie City community for 45 years, died Thursday at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.
Born Nov. 13, 1887, he attended rural schools in the Prairie City community and was married to Geraldine Cowman Oct. 14, 1915 at Prairie City.
