Newton Woman Dies Friday; Struck by Auto Month Ago
Marcia Whitmore of 400 E. 21st St. S. died Friday of injuries suffered Dec. 30 when she was struck by a car as she was scraping the ice from the windshield of her auto.
Ms. Whitmore, who was married to Robert Van Gorp of Newton, leaves a 5 year-old son, Lee.
Funeral services were held today at Jackson Ala.
Survivors are a son, William Lee Whitmore of Newton; a brother, Mark, of Cowarts, Ala.; a sister, Beverly, of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; and her parents, the Rev. and Mrs. Archie McIntyre of Cowarts, Ala.
She was an employee of the Newton Bowl.
Charges were filed against Jeffrey Allison of 431 E. 4th St. S. after the accident.
Jasper County Attorney Chuck Neighbor said that he would review the case with investigating officers to determine if additional charges would be forthcoming.
