Mable Herwehe Dies Sunday; Rites Wednesday
Mrs. Jacob P. (Mable Anne) Herwehe, 96, of Nelson Manor Nursing Home, a resident of Newton since 1934 and former resident of the Monroe area, died Sunday noon at the Manor.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home.
Dr. Richard Bentzinger, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Dexter (Thelma) Ammons of Des Moines and Mrs. Francis (Elizabeth) Gearhart of Buena Park, Calif.; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Perry (Inez) Clifford of Aberdeen, S.D.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1968; a daughter, Vera Hancock in 1934; a sister and three brothers.
The daughter of William and Mary Crowder Shaw, she was born Nov. 23, 1881 in Nebraska.
She was married Nov. 25, 1903 at the home of her parents north of Newton.
