LAST THURSDAY
--------------------------Kellogg, Ia., July 28, Special--
Mrs. M.M. Beals, 88, resident of this community since 1877, died at her home here shortly after noon Thursday of last week. Funeral services were held at the Madsen Funeral Home Saturday afternoon and burial was made in Our Silent City.
Mary Melvina Sulser, daughter of Garrison and Jane Sulser, was born August 19, 1849, in Wayne county, near Richmond, Ind. Her first visit to Iowa was made in 1858, when she came with her parents and a brother to visit her grandmother. Later they returned to Indiana and she came back in 1877 and settled on a farm in Jasper county. She was united in marriage to T.B. Beals, January 1, 1878, and they lived for some time on a farm west of town. Later she moved into town and has lived here since. Her husband preceded her in death 11 years ago.
Surviving relatives include two nieces, Mrs. Lou Doane and Mrs. Jay Saum of this place; two cousins, Mrs. Ella Kettle of Grinnell and Mrs. Byron Patrick of Des Moines and a grand nephew, Charles Madison Doane of this place.
