BURIED IN KELLOGG(From the Kellogg Enterprise)
Death claimed another former early resident of the Kellogg Community the first of last week, when Mrs. G.F. Saum died at the family home in Winterset, May 19.
The body was buried at Kellogg, funeral services being held Thursday at the Christian church, Rev. W.G. Weber in charge.
The services were largely attended by former friends of the Saum family, who were among the early residents of Buena Vista township. A mixed quartet composed of Mesdames C.W. Woodward and J. M. Gilreath, Messrs. R.G. Birchard and C.T. Powers, sang three appropriate hymns.
The body was interred in the old Saum cemetery, one of the first cemeteries of this part of Jasper county.
Amanda May Moore, daughter of John and Elizabeth Moore, was born in Scott County, Ia., May 1, 1855. Her girlhood days were spent in Scott County. In 1877 she came to Jasper County to make her home with her sister. Here she met G. Frank Saum who became her husband in 1882.
Two children were born to them, a son John who died a little over a year ago and Mrs. Flilmore Sandusky now of Earlham.
They made their home on a farm for a number of years, then spent four years in Denver, returning to the farm here, and afterwards moving to a farm near Des Moines, and later to Sioux City, and Winterset.
Mrs. Saum united with the church in early life and after her marriage transferred her membership to the Christian church at Kellogg.
