June 19, 1967 - July 30, 2013

Douglas Hasselman 46, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 5, 2013, at 6:00 p.m., at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., on Sunday, August 4, 2013, at the Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family. Douglas Eugene Hasselman was born on June 19, 1967, in Newton, Iowa. He was the son of Richard and Phyllis (Adams) Hasselman. Doug attended school in the Newton Community School District, graduating with the class of 1986. He then attended Marshalltown Community College and received his Machinist Degree in 2012.

Doug was united in marriage to Carie Perkovich and they later divorced. On April 1, 1993, Doug married Debra Roberts in Marshalltown. They currently resided in Marshalltown. He was working at the Times Republican but had previously worked at Midwest Manufacturing in Kellogg, Iowa, and Donnelly Marketing in Nevada, Iowa. He loved to bowl and bowled in many leagues over the years. Doug also enjoyed drinking coffee with friends and woodworking, NASCAR, fishing and playing cards. He will be remembered as a fun-loving jokester.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 20 years, Deb of Marshalltown; daughters: Antonia (Robert) Koenigsdorf of Scott Air Force Base in Illinois; and Rachel (Jessie) Reed of Grimes. Grandchildren: Makenna, Robert Jr., Christine, and Lilliana. Brothers: Rodger Hasselman of Arkansas, and Sean Clements of Newton, Iowa; niece, Shannon (Don) Morrison of Marshalltown; and great nieces and nephew: Clerissa, Calvin, and Cassy. In death Doug rejoins his parents, Richard and Phyllis; and siblings: Kimberly Schoenherr and Richard Burnett. ~ The Des Moines (IA) Register Legacy Online.
