Camillia “Sam” Bucklin, 72, of Ira died peacefully, Sunday, August 18, 2013, with her family by her side. She was born January 29, 1941 in Albia to Camille and Ruth (Cottrell) Price of Albia. On April 15, 1989, Camillia married her best friend, Jack Bucklin of Ira. She attended a rural school through fifth grade and graduated from Albia Community High School in 1959. On September 16, 1959, Camillia married David Frakes. Together they had two children, Teresa “Teri” Kay and Tamera “Tami” Jean.

Camillia was a Correctional Officer for the Iowa Department of Corrections. She worked at the Iowa Correctional Institution for Women in Mitchellville and the Newton Correctional Facility for Men. Camillia became a Peace Officer for the Capitol Security Division of the Department of Public Safety in March of 1977. She was very proud and honored to be one of the first women to graduate from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy in October of 1977.

Camillia loved going with Jack to their lake home at Rathbun Lake. She enjoyed viewing the birds and wildlife while sitting on the deck in her rocking chair with a cup of black coffee. She liked to stay active by mushroom hunting, boating, and jet skiing. Camillia enjoyed going on car “rides” with Jack to view the beautiful Southern Iowa countryside. You could always catch her listening to country or gospel music. She loved and adored her family and especially valued the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceding Camillia in death are her parents a niece and a nephew. Camillia is survived by her loving husband, Jack of Ira; two daughters, Teri (Ron) Gunsaulus of Colfax and Tami Schmidt of Ira; two step-sons, David Bucklin of Newton and Bryan (Dana Berry) Bucklin of Ira; four grandchildren, Anna (Jon) Eichhorn of Waukee, Chris (Sarah) Gunsaulus of West Des Moines, Brad (Kristi) Schmidt of Ankeny, and Stephanie Schmidt of Baxter; four step-grandchildren, Gunnar, Shea, and Haley Bucklin of Newton and Lehvi Bucklin of Baxter; three great-grandchildren, Brant and Elise Gunsaulus and Maya Schmidt; three sisters, Margaret Bussard of Colorado, Beverly Dixon of Missouri, and Maymie (Terry) Simmons of Missouri; one brother, Camille (Christie) Price, Jr of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, August 22, 2013, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with interment following at Union Chapel Cemetery in rural Mingo. The family will greet friends from 6-8 P.M. on Wednesday, August 21, at the funeral home. Memorials to Skiff Hospice or Union Chapel Cemetery may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home.
