Winterset:

Dorothy, 74, of Winterset formerly of Altoona, died of Alzheimer's Monday, July 22, 2013 at the Winterset Care Center North. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 25 at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset with a visitation prior to services beginning at 11 a.m., continuing to service time. A committal service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, July 26 in the Union Chapel Cemetery in Jefferson Township, Madison County. Memorials may be directed to the Winterset Care Center North Activity Fund. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.ochiltree.com.

Dorothy was born in Des Moines, IA on November 12, 1938 to Louis and Grace (Routson) Archer. She graduated from Moravia High School in 1957. She was a manager at 7-Eleven Food Stores in Urbandale for many years and also was assistant manager at Long John Silvers. Dorothy was dedicated to her work and was proud of her accomplishments. She married Ronald W. Shambaugh on October 4, 1994 in Des Moines, IA. Dorothy was a lifelong, central Iowa resident and she and her husband loved to travel. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Ronald Shambaugh of Altoona; three daughters, Teresa (Steve) Sammons of Samson, AL; Debra (Gus) Hildenbrand of Pulaski, TN; Jewel (Steve) Clark of Winterset; eight grandchildren, Kristy, Tracy, Jeremiah, Nichole, Dawn, Amber, Hilary and John; and 16 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by five siblings, Lois Martin of Winterset; Carolyn (Bill) Good of Altoona; Betty Lint of Van Meter; Jim (Karen) Archer of Bondurant and Evan (Lori) Archer of Newton.
