Lola Marie Pierce, 53, of Colfax entered into Heaven at home surrounded by her family on Monday, May 27, 2013.

A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Howard Street Christian Church with burial following at McKeever Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Lola Pierce Memorial Fund and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com .

The daughter of Malyn and Myrtle (Kloppenborg) Lester, Lola was born on Aug. 8, 1959, in Newton. She graduated from Colfax High School in 1977. On Feb. 29, 1992, she was united in marriage to Craig Pierce at the Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax. They were proudly blessed with a daughter, Jessica, in 2004. Lola worked as an executive secretary at Allied and Nationwide Insurance in Des Moines for 36 years. She was a member of the Howard Street Christian Church, where she served as a board member/secretary, Sunday school teacher and Diaconate. She proudly served on the Colfax Fire Department since 1990 and served as the secretary and treasurer since 1991.

Those left to honor Lola’s memory include her husband, Craig; her daughter, Jessica; her mother, Myrtle Lester of Colfax; and two brothers, Dennis (Barb) Lester and Andy Lester both of Colfax, and their children, Kendra (Bob) Perry, Serena, Malyn and Josh Lester; and a great-nephew, Elijah Perry. Lola is also survived by her husband’s family “The Lenard Pierce Family” and many other wonderful friends.
