Timothy Craig Dykstra passed away on Saturday, May 11th 2013 peacefully at home with his wife and family by his side. Tim was born January, 28th 1949 to Herbert and Crystal Dykstra in Newton. He grew up in Monroe, Iowa and graduated from Monroe High School in 1967. From there Tim attended Marshalltown Junior College and then went to Northwest Missouri State College.

Tim started working at Hawkeye Mutual Insurance in 1969 and became fully employed in 1971. He was President of Hawkeye Mutual Insurance and Dykstra Insurance Inc. until his death. He was in the insurance industry for over 40 years where he enjoyed working with and knew most of his clients on a first name basis. He served on various state and national committees in his younger years and was also very involved with community clubs and organizations. He was an active member in the First United Methodist Church of Newton.

Tim was united in marriage to Patty (Farren) Dykstra on May 4th, 1973 in Colo, Iowa. They were extremely blessed with two children, Angie and T.J. Tim had a deep love for his wife, children, and grandchildren. They were always first in his life and he enjoyed doing things with them and for them. Beautiful memories were made with his family until his time of death. He was very grateful for the time, care, and love that they all gave him.

Tim is now at peace after a long illness of pulmonary hypertension. His wish was to be free of oxygen tanks, needles, and long hospital stays. He is now free to walk and be as active as he wishes. He appreciated all the cards and visits he had from his many friends and family during his illness.

Those left to honor Tim's memory are his wife, Patty of Newton; Daughter, Angie and Kasey Barnes of Kellogg; Son, T.J. and Amy Dykstra of Altoona; Six grandchildren, Kaitlyn Barnes, Olivia Barnes, Jacob Barnes of Kellogg and Kylie Buerger, Mason Dykstra and Dallas Dykstra of Altoona; Mother, Crystal Dykstra of Newton; Sister, Roxann and Jim Wormley of Newton: Mother-in-law; Marguerite Farren of Newton; Sister-in-law, Jean and Roger Bellinghausen of Newell, Iowa; Brother-in-law, Mark and Julie Farren of Colo, Iowa; several nieces, nephews, as well as many friends and neighbors.

Tim is preceded in death by his father, Herbert E. Dykstra of Newton and Father-in law Dick Farren, of Colo, Iowa.

Tim will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. His funeral will be held on Friday, May 17th 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Newton, Iowa. Visitation will be at the same church Thursday, May 16th 2013 from 5-8p.m. In lieu of flowers. memorials will be put into a trust fund for Dykstra Insurance Inc., from which scholarships will be given. Private burial will be held at the Newton Union Cemetery. ~ The Des Moines Register on May 13, 2013
