Gary W. Innis, 65, of Newton, formerly of Springfield, Ill. and Grinnell, died on Friday, May 3, 2013, at the Iowa Veteran’s Home in Marshalltown. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials in Gary’s name may be left at the funeral home.

Gary, the son of Floyd and Barbara (Foster) Innis, was born on July 24, 1947 in Grinnell. He graduated from Grinnell High School in 1965 and attended Junior College. Gary served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1966-1970. He worked in the telecommunications field for many years and later was a salesman for a friend’s Harley Davidson shop in Springfield, Ill. Gary was a member of the Emerson Hough Chapter of the Izaak Walton League. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing pool, and motorcycles.

Those left to honor Gary’s memory are his two sons, Benjamin (Gabi) Innis of Johnston and Collin Innis of Springfield, Ill.; a grandson due May 16; and a brother, Floyd (Rosemary) Innis of Newton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Ronald and Jimmy Innis. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News Website.
