The death of Samuel Stuart Stayner took place at the home of his parents, in this place, at 4 o’clock last Thursday morning, after a fortnight’s painful illness during which everything possible to medical science was employed to relieve his suffering and prolong a life already useful and opening up great possibilities to his faithful, earnest and honest effort. He was the elder son of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Stayner, and a native of this place, born March 14, 1877. Here his boyhood and much of his young manhood has been passed, earning himself the esteem, confidence and respect of the entire community. His brief illness so full of suffering has been watched with alternating hope and fear by all who knew him, and there is not a heart in our little city that did not share with his bereaved parents and brother the great sorrow that come with the knowledge that he is gone from among us. - Clipper
