Kellogg, Ia., Feb. 7, Special.
Leslie Eaton, formerly of this place, died Thursday morning of last week about 7:30 o'clock immediately following a heart attack which occurred while he was driving his car on highway No. 14 about four miles south of Newton. Mr. Eaton was taking his wife to her school and they were accompanied by another teacher, when he suddenly fell over the steering wheel. Upon investigation he was found dead and the body was removed to a near by farm house and an undertaker notified.
Mr. Eaton was born Jan. 14, 1891, on a farm in Newton township and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. T.D. Eaton of Newton. He attended the Wormley Commercial college at Newton and the high school there.
He was united in marriage to Miss Irene Cornish of Kellogg who preceded him in death having died at their home in Kellogg December 17, 1918. One son, Duane, was born of this union.
About eleven years ago he was united in marriage to Miss Annastastia Birch, a teacher in the Kellogg schools. Two children were born of this union, one of which died in infancy.
He was a member of Meridian lodge No. 280 A.F. and A.M. of Kellogg and had a birthright membership in the Friends church.
He had been suffering with heart trouble since he was seven years old, and five years ago was forced to discontinue active work. He suffered an attack of influenza this winter from which he never fully recovered.
Surviving relatives include his wife, a son Duane, a daughter Joyce, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. T.D. Eaton, a sister, Mrs. Arthur Bark, and a brother, Don Eaton, all of Newton; and one sister, Mrs. Fred Altemeier of Melbourne.
Funeral services were held at the Morgan funeral home in Newton Saturday afternoon, and burial was made in the Center Friends cemetery.
