Mrs. Philena Slaght of Monroe died yesterday and the remains were today taken to the former home of the deceased at Tiffin, Iowa. A daughter, Miss Nellie, and Rev. C. C. Meek of Monroe and M. K. Drake of this city accompanied the remains.

Died at her home in Monroe, Sunday, May 10, 1903, Mrs. Slaght, aged about 56 years, after weeks of great suffering. The remains were taken to the old home near Iowa City, Monday morning for interment. She leaves one son married and Miss Nellie Slaght who has been so faithful in caring for her mother. Mrs. Williams of Newton, a niece, has been with her most of the time lately.
