Saturday afternoon about 5:45 William Mahaffle, a young man 21 years of age, was drowned in the soft water pond at Grinnell. He was a member of Co. K, I.N.G., of Grinnell and had many friends among the boys of Co. L. of this city. Mahaffle’s home was in Lynnville.
