Herwehe, Jacob 1844-1919

HERWEHE, LIBERUM, WEIDEMAN, MARKS, KLING

Jacob HERWEHE-Jacob Herwehe departed this life March 20, 1919 at the age of 74 years.

He was born in Baden, Germany, Aug. 28, 1844. He emigrated to America with his parents in 1854, being at that time 9 years of age. The subject attended school in Germany and two winters in Iowa, but he had little opportunity to get an education, being the oldest son hence a great deal of hard work about the home fell to him.

He remained with his father until the age of 26 years when he was united in marriage to Christine Wilhelmine Liberum of French descent who imigrated to this country in the fall of 1869, and took up her residence with a cousin in Des Moines. His companion departed this life, Dec 13, 1903.

He lived on the farm which he owned till four years ago, when he with his daughter, Anna Mary, who survives him, took up their home in Reasnor.

He also leaves to mourn his loss, two brothers and three sisters, Adam and Henry of Monroe, Mrs. Maegaret Weideman and Mrs. Hannah Marks of near Galesburg, Mrs. Barbara Kling of Sully. Mr. Herwehe was for many years a member of the German Methodist Church. A good and honorable man has been called home to his rest and God.

The funeral service was held at the Methodist Church at Reasnor at 10:00 on Saturday morning, March 22 conducted by Rev. Enoch Hill of Monroe. The Brotherhood Quartet of the Methodist church of Reasnor sand two beautiful selections. The body was laid to rest in the cemetery at Monroe.
