Mr. James Hannagan, after an illness of several months, died at his home on College Addition, at six o’clock Tuesday evening, November 14th, aged fifty years, eight months and one day. For over four months he had been confined to his home, and much of the time a great sufferer. He was born in Peoria, Ill, March 13, 1849. In 1856 he came to Colfax, where he resided for some time. He was married to Pricilla Logsdon in 1878. To them were born three sons and three daughters, all of whom are living. He and his wife were prominent workers in the Salvation Army, while that organization was in existence in this city. He was a poor man, honest and industrious, and had just completed a neat little home for himself and family when stricken with the fatal disease. Funeral services were held at the one at one o’clock this afternoon, conducted by Rev. J. C. Willits of the M. E. Church. Mrs. Hannagan and her fatherless children are deserving the sympathy of everybody. ~ The Newton Record, Thursday, November 16, 1899, Page 1, Column 6
