A. D. Campbell, for 40 years past a citizen of Independence Township, where he was regarded as one of the best, and most influential farmers, died at his home, two and a half miles northwest of Ira this morning and his funeral held at the home at 2 o’clock Saturday conducted by Rev. Chas. E. Tower of Baxter. Deceased was ill only about ten days and his malady was consumption of the bowels.

Mr. Campbell was born in Indiana, 1824, making him 73 years old at his death. His wife died some 16 years ago. Mr. Campbell came to Iowa in the early days and had lived on the farm where he died forty-three years. He was a quiet man, a good father and a neighbor to all who knew him.
