Cicero B. Dobie died last evening at nine o’clock at the home of is brother-in-law, Dr. C. E. Boyd, in this city. He had for some time been afflicted with heart trouble and other complications set in, which greatly hastened the end, which came suddenly and sooner than was expected.
Mr. Dobie was a resident of Sigourney, where he owns the telephone exchange. He was for five years agent at Grinnell for the C. R. I. & P Railway Company and was at Marengo two years. It was at the latter place that he became acquainted with Miss Emma Flowers of this city and a friendship was formed which culminated in their marriage Dec. 6, 1882. To them has been born one child, Miss Edna, a young lady of splendid character and many charms of manner. Some weeks ago Mr. Dobie came here to receive treatment from his brother-in-law and while he seemed to improve for a time, yet the past few days it became apparent that the end was not far distant.
Mrs. Dobie had been here the past two weeks and Miss Edna came last evening, accompanied by Mr. Dobie’s mother, Mrs. G. W. Dobie. Deceased was born March 21, 1857 in Sigourney.
The funeral service will occur tomorrow afternoon in Sigourney, the party leaving here on the Monroe branch at 7:20 a.m. Mr. and Mrs. D. W. Flowers, who have for some time been visiting in Cedar Rapids, will join the party in Sigourney.
