Nellie Bennett, Former Newton Resident, Dies

Mrs. Bert L. (Nellie A.) Bennett, 87, of Cayuga Plaza Apartments, Cohoes, N.Y., a resident of Newton for 51 years, died Tuesday evening at the Cohoes Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church.

The Rev. Ray Barnett, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday.

The family will be at the funeral home Friday afternoon and evening to meet relatives and friends.

Survivors are two sons, Harold J. of Hudson Falls, N.Y.; and Robert of Cohoes, N.Y.; a daughter, Mrs. Raymond (Mildred) Ferguson of Fort Hanchuca, Ariz.; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Fred Westerkamp of Newton; and a great-niece, Mrs. Edward Peterson of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents and son [should say husband] in October, 1951.

Mrs. Bennett, a member of the First Presbyterian Church, for more than 50 years, was born June 10, 1890 at Kirksville, Mo.
