Evelyn V. Nicodemus, age 82 of Colfax, died Saturday, December 29, 2012, at Careage of Newton. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday January 2, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Colfax United Methodist Church with burial following at McKeever Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Coburn Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the Colfax United Methodist Church and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The daughter of Elmer and Clara (Phillips-Winslow) Lind, Evelyn was born on August, 23, 1930, in Metz on the farm. Evelyn attended Mound Prairie #1 Country School until the eight grade and graduated from Colfax High School in 1948. On August 4, 1948, she was united in marriage to Keith Nicodemus at the Little Brown Church of the Vale in Nashua. This union was blessed with three children, Janice, Randy, and Dale. Evelyn was a member of the Colfax United Methodist Church. She enjoyed church and activities, gardening, chickens and farm life in general. She sold World Book Encyclopedia for several years. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Keith of 64 years; daughter, Janice (Larry) Ketelsen of Charter Oak, two sons, Randy (Denise) Nicodemus of Aurelia and Dale Nicodemus of Colfax, nine grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, a twin brother, Eldon (Marilyn) Lind of Ankeny and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, a brother, George and two sisters, Ruth and Lois. ~ The Coburn Funeral Homes, Colfax, Iowa.
