Marjorie, the daughter of William and Tressa (Vander Schel) Schultze, was born on February 4, 1926 in Prairie City, Iowa. She was united in marriage with Garrit Van Veen on November 6, 1943 in Newton, Iowa. They made their home on many farms around Jasper County. Marjorie worked at Parker Super Value, Family Foods, and had made holiday fruit baskets for Hy-Vee. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, the Moose Lodge, and the American Legion Auxiliary. Marjorie enjoyed gardening, cooking, and canning. Those left to honor Marjorie’s memory are her 2 sons, Gary (Melinda) Van Veen of Newton and Kevin W. (Suzanne) Van Veen of Des Moines; 2 daughters, Gloria Craft of Newton and Linda (Gerry) Trotter of Newton; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and a sister. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Garrit in 2006; and 4 sisters.
