Jack Gunther, a coal miner well known about Colfax, was found dead and torn to pieces this morning by the force of section men two miles east of Colfax. He had no doubt been killed sometime during the night or early morning, probably by the fast night express which went through here between one and two o’clock.
Deceased with his brother conducted the mine formerly conducted by the Bieley estate, near the Slaughter mines, just north of where the remains were found.
Inquest is being held before Justice of the Peace, A. N. Benton, at Colfax this afternoon.
