Died, at her home, last Thursday morning March 5th, 1896, one mile and a half north of Ira, Mrs. John Alexander, aged 46 years, 4 months and 5 days.

Melisa Eliot was born in Kosiosco county, Indiana in 1849; joined the M.E. church at the age of 18, lived in Indiana until she was married to John Alexander, when they removed to Iowa, where they have since resided. Unto them four children were born, Quincy, Melvin, Eva V., Wesly. Wesley died at the age of 5 years. She leaves a husband and three children to mourn the loss of a wife and mother. Mrs. Alexander was loved by many and respected by all who knew her.

The funeral was last Friday at 11 o’clock, at the Union Chapel, and was conducted by Rev. T.A. Lampman, of Greencastle. A large concourse of friends and neighbors followed her remains to the cemetery. She is gone but not forgotten, long will live in the memory of the departed one.
