Joe Carter, 81, passed from this life on Monday, September 24, 2012, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, September 27, at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel with burial to follow at Glendale Cemetery.

Joe was born on May 6, 1931, in Des Moines, attended East High School, and retired from Meredith-Burda.

Joe is survived by his wife of 41 years, Inez; three sons, Doug and Nick of Des Moines and Tim (Kathy) of Tempe, Arizona; grandson, Joseph C. (Ashley) Carter and great-granddaughter, Margaret Ann Carter all of Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mabel Carter, daughter, Nancy Carter, and his brothers, James and Jack.

Memorials may be directed to Trinity Center at Luther Park in Des Moines.
