Bonnie B. (Marshall) Ryther, 83, of Newton died on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at Newton Health Care Center in Newton.

A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton, officiated by Rev. Merle E. Smith of the St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Newton.

The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight, Oct. 19, at the funeral home.

Memorials to Willowbrook Adult Day Care may be left at the funeral home. Memorials may also be mailed to the funeral home, please add, Attn: Ryther Family on the envelope.

Survivors include her children, Gary (Vicki) Ryther of Newton, Chuck (Tammy) Ryther of Marion, and Melody Ryther of Newton; her son-in-law, Dale Raridon of Newton; her daughter-in-law, Kate Ryther of Newton; twenty grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren, her brother, Eldon Marshall of Monroe; her sister, Pat (Clifford) Simbro of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Wayne in 1990; two sons, Jim in 2008 and Douglas in infancy; daughter, Connie Raridon on September 29, 2012; two brothers, Leland and Leroy Marshall; and sister, Norma Hannam. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, October 19, 2012.

Visitation: The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, October 19, 2012 at the funeral home.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 20, 2012 at the funeral home.
Interment: Immediately following the funeral service on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in rural Newton.

Those left to honor Bonnie's memory are her children, Gary (Vicki) Ryther of Newton, Chuck (Tammy) Ryther of Marion, and Melody Ryther of Newton; her son-in-law, Dale Raridon of Newton; and her daughter-in-law, Kate Ryther of Newton; twenty grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren, her brother, Eldon Marshall of Monroe; her sister, Pat (Clifford) Simbro of Newton; and many nieces and nephews. Bonnie was a graduate of Monroe High School in 1947 in Monroe, Iowa. She played girls basketball in high school.

Bonnie drove school bus for the Newton Community School District for many years. She had also worked at the Maytag Dairy Farm, Larchwoods, Needle Network and as a Para-Pro at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School.

Bonnie was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a past 4-H leader. She loved being with her family. She also enjoyed gardening, needlework, sewing, hand crafts and basketball.
