Life Story of J. W. Koder

John W. Koder, 94, of Embassy Manor Care Center, a resident of Newton since 1944, died Monday March 8, at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were held Thursday at the Monroe United Methodist Church.

The Rev. Jerry Wolcott, pastor of the church, conducted services. Burial was in the Gifford Cemetery near Monroe.

Survivors are his wife, Ida of Embassy Manor Care Center; a son, Elvin Koder of Prairie City; two daughters, Mrs. Lawson (Margaret) Bailey of Monroe and Mrs. Lowell (Marie) Perry of Fairview Bay, Ark.; 11 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and four sisters, Mrs. G. E. (Sophia) McCulloch of Bellevue, Neb., Mrs. George (Lydia) Robinson of Newton, Mrs. John (Eva) Gorman of Bellevue, Neb., and Mrs. Stanley (Bulah) Strunce, of Okaloosa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Chester and Herbert; three sisters; three brothers and a grandson.

Mr. Koder had been a farmer, coal miner at Draper, Maytag Co. employe and custodian at the First Presbyterian Church.

The son of Logan and Nancy Roush Kroder, he was born Sept. 15, 1881 at Dunreath.

He was married to Ida Stine June 12, 1907
