Stine Services Held Sunday

Funeral services for Elsworth Stine were held at the Crumpacker Funeral Home Sunday afternoon, Dec. 23 at 2 p.m. The Rev. Glen Zeck and his wife of Melcher, officiated. Internment was in the Monroe Cemetery.
Mrs. Thelma Lewis sang “the Old Rugged Cross” and “Beyond the Sunset”.
Pall bears were Elvin Hart, and Frank Marshall of Newton, Clyde Thomason and Merle Stine of Monroe, Elvin Koder of Prairie City and Hubert Koder of Pella.
Elsworth Stine, son of Charles and Martha Stine, was born in Jasper County, near Draper, on July 19, 1874. He passed away in Newton December 21, 1951, at the age of 77 years 5 months and 2 days.
On July 29, 1915, he was united in marriage to Flossie Wilson. To this union was born four daughters and one son.
Mr. Stine was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and five brothers.
He is survived by his wife. Flossie Stine of Monroe, four daughters, Lula Olivier of Prairie City, Ardelle Nearmeyer of Prairie City, Frances Smith of Mitchelville and Ruth Stine of Monroe; one son, Robert Stine of Monroe, and nine grandchildren.

Also surviving are three sisters, Ida Koder of Newton, Amanda Hart of Newton, and Ellen Patchin of Oklahoma City, Okla., and two brothers, James and Sam of Draper; and a host of nieces and nephews.
