WEST DES MOINES – Reeta Lavona Poulson Dodd, 91, of Fountain West Health Center of West Des Moines, a former resident of Jasper County, died Tuesday morning, March 27, at the health center of heart failure.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton.

The Rev. David Raymond, pastor of the Newton Congregational United Church of Christ, will conduct services. Burial will be Restland Cemetery in Baxter.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 8 a.m. Friday. Visitation with the family will be held from 11 a.m. Friday until time of services.

Survivors are a daughter, Marjorie (Mrs. William) Kinch of Bellevue, Neb.; three grandchildren, Terry Thompson, Pamela Thompson an Barbara Ward; and three great-grandchildren..

She was preceded in death by her parents and three infant brothers.

Mrs. Dodd, a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ, a monthly neighborhood club, the ODO; had taught Jasper County county schools for three years and had worked at the Vernon Co. for 16 years.

The daughter of William G. and Izora Mae Cross Poulson, she was born Jan. 27, 1899 north of Colfax, was a 1918 graduate of Baxter Community High School and received her teacher’s certificate from the University of Northern Iowa at Cedar Falls.

Mrs. Dodd, who enjoyed reading, handiwork, crocheting and pillow embroidering, lived in Baxter until moving to Newton in 1941. She resided in Newton until moving to the health center in 1984. ~ The Newton Daily News, March 28, 1990.
