Grace Braaksma, 72, of Oskaloosa, formerly of Newton, died on Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Newton.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, at the Holiday Inn Express in Newton.

The Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory is handling the cremation. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, September 24, 2012.

Memorial Service: 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at the Holiday Inn Express in Newton.
Those left to honor Grace's memory are her husband, Carroll "Butch" Braaksma of Oskaloosa, Iowa; children, Patrick (Laura) Weter of Belvidere, Illinois, William (Andrea) Weter of Crystal Lake, Illinois, Kimberley (Ronald) Powell of Climax, Kansas, Marie (Randy) Sutton of Fremont, Iowa, and Anita (Donald) Farr of Oskaloosa, Iowa; her 21 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers; and her numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Grace (Brown) McCoy; 4 sisters; and 1 brother.

Grace worked as a seamstress at Ponca Canvas in Wichita, Kansas and at DeLong's in Grinnell, Iowa.

She enjoyed making things for her family including gun cases and pillowcases, playing bingo, reading, being outdoors, going to the casino, and her great-grandchildren.

Memorials in Grace's name may be left at the Holiday Inn Express during the service or at the funeral home. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa.
