Lucille B. (Van Gendersen) Huyser, 84, of Lynnville died Saturday morning at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House in Pella.

A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, at the First Reformed Church in Sully. Interment will follow at the Sully Cemetery. Visitation will begin after 2 p.m. today, Sept. 17, at the First Reformed Church in Sully, where the family will be present from 4 to 7 p.m. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, September 17, 2012.

Obituary for Lucille Huyser

Lucille Bernice Van Genderen was the first child born to Leonard and Jennie (Brand) Van Genderen. She was born on November 5, 1927, near Killduff, Iowa.

Lucille received her grade education at country grade schools near Galesburg and Kellogg, Iowa and the Iron Clad Lynn Grove No.1 near Sully, Iowa. She graduated from Sully High School in Sully and attended Central College in Pella, Iowa to obtain her teachers certificate. Lucille taught elementary education at the Iron Clad Country School where she had attended, and Galesburg and Dairy Grove Country Schools for four years. She later did substitute teaching at Lynnville-Sully for several years.

Lucille met Vernon Gerrit Huyser on the square in Sully and on November 7, 1946, they were united in marriage at the home of her parents. Lucille and Vernon moved to the farm near Lynnville, Iowa in 1950 where they shared their lives together for the next 65 years. They raised three sons: Randall Lee, Doyle Gene and Douglas Allen; and were inseparable.

Traveling was a high priority as they loved to go away. They enjoyed tractor rides, the Dutch Masters Auto Club, and attending their grandchildren’s activities. Lucille was an avid map reader, enjoyed studying genealogy and collecting Precious Moments. Lucille was a loving, faithful, Christian wife, mother and grandmother and passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2012, at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House in Pella, Iowa at the age of 84 years. Those who will cherish her memory are husband, Vernon Huyser; their three sons and their wives; 8 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. They are:

Dylann, Jager, Tatum and Chayse
Jeremy Huyser of Ankeny, Iowa
Lindsey and Derek De Haan of Pella, Iowa

Lucille leaves her sister, Joyce and her husband, Dick Ver Ploeg, Jr. of Sully and her sister-in-law Sylvia (Claris ) Van Genderen of Newton, Iowa; along with the following sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Illa Mae (Edward) Huyser of Grinnell, Iowa, Howard Huyser of Pella, Iowa, Myron and Nancy Huyser of Badger, Iowa, Gary and Linda Huyser of Auxvasse, Missouri, Larry and Lynda Renaud of Sully. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Jennie Van Genderen; her brother, Claris Van Genderen; her parents-in-law, Gerrit and Anna Marie (De Jong) Huyser and step-mother-in-law, Helen (De Penning) Huyser; and one brother-in-law: Edward Huyser.

Lucille was a member of the First Reformed Church in Sully where she made profession of her faith as a teenager and remained an active, faithful member.

Funeral Services will be held
Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at 10:30 a.m.
First Reformed Church Sully, Iowa
Interment will follow in the Sully Cemetery at Sully, Iowa

Visitation will begin after 2:00 p.m. Monday at the First Reformed Church in Sully where the family will be present from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m..
