Judith A. “Judy” Mallicoat Smith, 65, of Newton died on Saturday, September 15, 2012, at her home in Newton.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Edens Cemetery in rural Rhodes.

Memorials to the Rhodes Fire Department or the Rhodes United Methodist Church may be left at the funeral home. Memorials may also be mailed to the funeral home, please add, Attn: Smith Family on the envelope.

Survivors include her husband, Gerald of Newton; children, Scott Mallicoat of Newton, Rochell (Randy) Oldham of Newton, Bart (Wendy) Smith of Newton and Barry (Michelle) Smith of Mingo; her four grandchildren, Brooklyn, Stevie, Nathan and Hunter; two sisters, Janey Scott of Rhodes and Barb (Skeeter) Tuttle of Rhodes; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin G. and Maxine Mallicoat and brother, Jimmy Mallicoat. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, September 17, 2012.
