Iowa State Democrat, Thursday, January 24, 1901
Page 1, Column 4

Herman Stock died at his home along the north line of this county last Sunday morning. He had been a sufferer from asthma for many years and during the past week or two had been suffering from the prevailing epidemic of grip. He had been under the doctor’s care but it was not thought that he was in any immediate danger. At an early hour Sunday morning his wife awoke and found that he had just passed quietly away, the trouble evidently having gone to his heart. Mr. Stock was born in Germany and had been a resident of this country for about 30 years. He was a good citizen and will be missed in the neighborhood where he had long resided and gained the respect of his acquaintances. Besides his wife he leaves one son, Simon, a young man. The funeral occurred at 10 o’clock Wednesday at Horn Church, the services being conducted by Rev. Frederick Rasche.
