Graveside Service: 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Newton Union Cemetery in Newton.
June was born on June 18, 1930 to Earl and Sarah (Brewer) Herwehe in rural Monroe, Iowa. She grew up in rural Monroe. June was united in marriage with Donald Barcus on August 29, 1948 in Newton. They made their home in Newton shortly thereafter. June worked at the Automatic Factory before becoming a homemaker. She loved to sew. June’s survivors include her two daughters, Julie Waddell of Des Moines and Joni (Tim) Van Sickle of rural Newton; grandchildren, Jeff Waddell, Christen Morgan, Joseph Waddell, Johnna Waddell, Amanda Waddell, Wendy McDuff, and Justin McDuff, and Beau, Brooke, Brady, Bremer, Bauston, Bailey, and Baylor Van Sickle; her 9 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Judy (Gordon) Dodds of Newton and Alberta “Joy” (Johnnie) Savage of Mingo; her 2 sisters-in-law, Pauline Herwehe of Prairie City and Maureen Herwehe of Newton; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald in 1999; son, Ronald Barcus; 2 grandsons, William Waddell II and Jeremy Waddell; 2 great-grandchildren; and 5 brothers, Rolland, Carol, Buddy, Norvil, and Billie Herwehe.

Memorials to Dollars for Scholars can be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home.
