(Special to The Daily News)
Kellogg - Mrs. Charlotte Boden, 89, widow of the first Lutheran minister in Kellogg, died today at 3:10 a.m. at her home here, following a lingering illness.
Her husband, the late Rev. S. A. Boden, organized the Lutheran church in Kellogg in 1870, and located here permanently in 1873. It was in that year that the present church building was erected and dedicated.
Organized Churches
Before locating in Kellogg, Rev. Boden had lived in Malcom for about five years and from this point served groups of Lutherans at Monroe, Elk Creek, Wildcat Grove, and Kellogg, later organizing congregations at these places. He moved to Kellogg because it was most centrally located and served as pastor of the Kellogg church for 25 years until his death in December 1897. Mrs. Boden continued to live in Kellogg after her husband's death.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1:30 p.m. from the local church by the Rev. W. G. Weber, pastor, assisted by a group of Lutheran ministers from neighboring towns. Interment will be in the Lutheran cemetery west of Kellogg.

Ministers who will assist as pallbearers and members of a male quartet, include Rev. Mr. Chalacker of Malcom, Rev. A. H. Schultz of State Center, Rev. Mr. Niederwimmer, of Grinnell, and Rev. Mr. Ganschow, Rev. Mr. Biedermann, and Rev. Mr. Zellinger of Des Moines.
Surviving relatives include two daughters, Anna, at home, and Mrs. Star Wilson of Des Moines, and one son, O. G. Boden of Nyssa, Ore. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons.
