Ance H. Smith Dies Wednesday; Services Pending
Ance H. Smith, 63, a resident of Jasper County since 1950, died at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday at his home at 42R Lincoln Court after suffering a heart attack.
Funeral arrangement shave not been completed.
The Rev. Hilton Griswold, minister of the Assembly of God Church, will conduct the services.
Toland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Smith is survived by his widow; four sons, Glen of Grand Island, Neb., Joseph of Rockford, Ill., David of Kearney, Neb., and Monty of Grand Island, Neb.; four daughters, Mrs. Bill (Mary) Copeland of Roseburg, Ore., Mrs. Ed (Mae) Wygonik of Dearborn, Mich., Mrs. Richard (Paulene) Bates of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Mrs. Dewey (Phylis) Woosley of Murphysboro, Ill.; and a brother, Jim Smith of Huntington, W. Va., and three sisters, Mrs. Manda Romans of Huntington, W. Va., Mrs. Delphia Mathews of Huntington, W. Va., and Mrs. Rachel Scaggs of Chillicothe, Ohio.
The son of Samuel and Mary Hammond Smith, he was born April 28, 1898 in Wayne County, W. Va.
He was married Aug. 19, 1919 at Wayne, W. Va., to Hanie Robison.
Mr. Smith was a maintenance man at Lincoln Court.
