Glenn A. Bailey Dies at Hospital; Rites Thursday
Glen A. Bailey, 66, a resident of Newton for the past 12 years, died Tuesday evening at the Skiff Memorial Hospital after suffering a heart attack.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church.
The Rev. Lowell McConnell, minister of the church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.
Mr. Bailey will lie in state at the Morgan-Loehr Funeral Home until noon Thursday.
Mr. Bailey is survived by his wife, Gail; a grandson, Ricky Wenrick of Columbus, Ohio; a son-in-law, Walter B. Wenrick of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Ray O. Bailey of Newton; and three sisters, Mrs. Fred Kokesh of Diagonal, Mrs. L. Banks Wood of Diagonal and Mrs. Lee Lightner of Creston.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife and daughter.
Mr. Bailey was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Elks Club.
He was born Sept. 19, 1894 at Diagonal.
A salesman for the Caterpillar Tractor Co., and a retired farmer, Mr. Bailey was a graduate of Coe College at Cedar Rapids.
He resided in Columbus, Ohio, and Philadelphia, Pa., before moving to Newton.
He was married Nov. 17, 1951 to Gail Rash.
