Carol J. Bogart, 60, of Newton died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, at her home in Newton. A visitation will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. Memorials in Carol’s name may be left at the funeral home.
Carol was born in Newton on Nov. 21, 1951, to Fred and Connie (Vasquez) Manning. She was a 1969 graduate of Newton Senior High School, after which she attended DMACC. On Dec. 19, 1970, Carol was united in marriage to James Bogart in Newton.
Carol was a cook at Park Centre for 14 years, and prior to that was the assistant manager at Midtown Cafe. She was a talented cook and always made pecan rolls and enchiladas for her large family.
Carol is survived by her husband, Jim Bogart of Newton; sons Jesse (Kathy) Bogart of Waukee and Andy Bogart (Allicia Spoon) of West Des Moines; brothers Jesse Rodriguez, Arthur Rodriguez and Jerry (Sue) Manning; sisters Betty (Ron) Joy, Donna Eddy (Lyle Lingenfelter) and Bonnie Burgart; brother-in-law Steve Kannenberg; three grandchildren, Curtis, Alex and Cheyeene Bogart; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Marilyn Kannenberg; two sisters-in-law, Ruth and Florence Rodriguez; and nephew Jake Manning.
