Harold M. Wells Sr., 84, of Newton, formerly of Sully died Monday, Dec. 19, 2011, at the Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, at the Sully Community Church. The family will greet friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Following a lunch at the church, burial will be at Sully Cemetery. Memorials to Skiff Hospice may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Newton.
Harold is survived by his wife, Margaret Wells of Newton; two sons, Harold Wells Jr. of Janesville and Tim Wells of Newton; one daughter, Paulette (Brian) Korn of Dallas, Ga.; his son-in-law, Larry Kling of Eagle Grove, Iowa; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brother, Arthur (Twyla) Wells of Grinnell; and many nieces and nephews.

Harold M. Wells, Sr. was born June 04, 1927.
He was preceded in death by his birth parents, Glen and Blanche (McSpadden) Dawson; parents, Bert and Verna (Coop) Wells; 2 sons, Terry and David Wells; a daughter, Carlotta Kling; step-son, Ron Hynick; 4 sisters, Helen Bryan, Laverta Dawson Claypool, Agnes Dawson Rodene, and Early Dawn Dawson Van Pattern; his brother, Dorman Dawson; and a grandson, Chad Wells.
Harold graduated from Grinnell High School and later from Des Moines Area Community College. He worked as a machinist.
He enjoyed flying airplanes and took flying lessons. He also enjoyed tinkering around the house and fishing.
