Keith E. Iske, 90, of Newton died Monday afternoon, Dec. 19, 2011, in the Monarch Wing at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton, with burial at Newton Union Cemetery. A visitation with the family present will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, at funeral home in Newton. A quiet prayer service will be held following the visitation. Memorials are being designated to Newton Elks Lodge #1270.
Keith Edward Iske, the son of Laurn and Doris (Buchanan) Iske, was the second baby born at Skiff Hospital on January 24, 1921, in Newton. He graduated from the Newton Senior High School with the Class of 1939. On July 5, 1952, on a farm in rural Jasper County near Sully, Keith was united in marriage to Reva (Smith) Northrup. Keith farmed in Jasper County before going to work for Maytag Company, where he worked in payroll for 32 years, retiring in 1983. After retiring Keith worked at Westwood Golf Course.
Keith was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Elks Lodge #1270, Masonic Lodge #59 AF&AM, Shriners, Izaak Walton League, Moose Lodge #923 and Redman Lodge. He loved his family, fishing and golfing.
Those left to honor the memory of Keith include his wife, Reva Iske of Newton; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Ruby Northrup of Lincoln, Neb.; daughter Linda Johnson of Newton; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Virginia Smith of Cheyenne, Wyo.; and several nieces and nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Dick Northrup, sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie and Edward Callahan and brother, Rex Iske.
